Clients not receiving data or appears offline - Windows Firewall Exceptions

In most cases you will not need to make any changes. However, if you are prompted by your Firewall, Anti-Malware or Spyware software you will need to allow or unblock BlueNote.

Newer versions of BlueNote Lights may have instructions created for your IT team. Open BlueNote Communicator at the workstation in question and choose Menu > Help > Support and look for Firewall Information.

If you are having problems with BlueNote receiving light updates or conversations you will want to verify that you only have one entry of BlueNote Communicator Lights in the exceptions list and that it is selected for all networks.

Open the Windows Firewall by clicking the Start button, and then clicking Control Panel (Settings in Windows 10/11). In the Search box, type Firewall, and then click Windows Firewall.

The Windows Firewall has been known to block programs even after the application has been allowed. If you continue to have problems, you will need to remove BlueNote from the allowed list and let Windows add it back automatically after restarting BlueNote. Restarting your PC may also be a good idea, but not typically needed.

Version 7 Important Note:

View the version at each client by choosing Menu > Help. If the BlueNote Lights client is Version 7.12.1 or below, the workstation was not allowed to download and install the automatic update to Version 7.12.4 or above, so there is a high probability that these older version's data is being blocked from the newer clients.
